Taking Root

Taking Root

Have you ever considered how canceling that dinner engagement because work was particularly exhausting that day or wearing what made you feel the most comfortable and confident as a form of self-love? As mundane as these choices may seem, they’re in service to your highest good because they’re honoring you, however and wherever you are, authentically.

This workshop is dedicated to you, tapping into your truest self, at your root, giving yourself what, in my opinion, are two of the most precious gifts you could offer anyone- your time and attention.

Tricks to Treat Yourself - In Person

The stresses of daily life can accumulate (with no help from a global pandemic), and if the residual weight of these worries is left unattended, we can find ourselves burned-out, apathetic, irritable, and, in some cases, even physically ill. This workshop invites you to put the outside world on ‘pause’, to take the necessary time for self-reflection, and consider what it is that you may need at this point in time.

Window to the Soul - Online

Based on the ancient practice of the Maori people, native to New Zealand, this group will focus on individuals creating their own Maori drawing, exploring universal as well as personal symbolism that reflects your inner wisdom, bringing forth your own guidance into your conscious awareness. Traditionally, this was done annually, on or around an individual’s birthday, or in the Summer season. The purpose of such a drawing was to help identify where one has come from, where they are in the present, and where they’re going. This online workshop is offered the first weekend in October to serve as a “farewell” to the Summer, making way for what’s to come.

Holding Light and Shadow - Online

$0.00

This free, online workshop is in celebration of the Autumnal Equinox, when the sun and moon illuminate the sky for the same length of time in the Northern Hemisphere. Similar to Spring, Autumn reminds us of change and what it means to exist in a transitory, liminal space. (As the Greek philosopher, Heraclitus stated, “The only constant is change.”) This equal opportunity for day and night as well as the sun entering the sign of Libra, often depicted by a scale, calls us to examine both the ‘light’ and the ‘dark’ of our lives in search of balance.

As the Summer heat wanes, allowing cooler temperatures to settle-in, and we begin to retreat indoors, our focus tends to be on comfort and our immediate environment (externally as well as internally). Historically, the seasons carry inherent themes and metaphor. Autumn, for example, is a time to savor and reflect on all that we’ve ‘harvested’ in the last year as well as that which we hope to release. This workshop is dedicated to holding space for both, the ‘light’, the ‘dark’, and all the reds, oranges, and yellows in-between.

Materials needed:

  • pen or pencil

  • two pieces of paper (8 1/2”x 11” or larger, cardstock/ construction paper is recommended)

  • scissors

  • glue/ tape

  • any artistic medium of your choice (colored pens/ pencils/ markers/ paint, etc.)
