The panther began presenting itself to me in my dreams, somewhere during my mid-late twenties. Being someone who appreciates not only visual metaphor, but symbolism and archetypes that are utilized by our unconscious, I began to notice a pattern of how this regal creature consistently appeared in my dreams— as a guardian. Whenever I would dream of something threatening, without fail, a lone black panther would appear, seemingly from nowhere. It’s demanding yet quiet presence was all that was necessary to cause whatever was threatening me to dissipate, almost immediately.

As time passed, I not only began to understand what this creature meant, historically as well as to me, personally, but, together, we developed a bond. I began to trust what I consider now to be a symbol of my intuition and personal power.

In some shamanistic cultures, black panthers are associated with astral travel.

They’re believed to be the guardians that lead you from the physical, three-dimensional realm to the spiritual, non-physical realm & beyond, overseeing this passage and ensuring that you make the journey swiftly & safely.

These melanistic leopards are also associated with the moon and a divine feminine energy.

Given that panthers are nocturnal, they’re stealthy hunters with keen sight. Similarly, the moon is a beacon of light within darkness, which is much like our intuition that has a way of seeing or sensing the truth of a matter, despite this truth remaining unveiled in our physical or conscious reality.

These agile creatures have hundreds of voluntary muscles that allow for them to choose just when and how to make themselves seen.

The panther, with its luxurious, dark coat & connection to lunar energy, calls us to embrace our shadow self, or the aspects of our personalities that we may repress, deny, have abandoned, or deemed unworthy potentially due to shame, ridicule, or a desire to feel loveable or even wanted.

In Jungian psychology, the idea of individuation is the process of returning to a state of wholeness, accepting both our light and our shadow selves, so that we may experience our fullest potential and the most unique version of ourselves.

I believe that fostering a connection to these aspects of our personality is what is necessary to not only develop a greater capacity to hold space for others in their humanity, but for ourselves. We, as individuals, can’t expect another to give us what it is that we refuse to grant ourselves.

Cultivating compassion for the self is essential for our personal and collective evolution.

Exercising a willingness to be seen, for all of who we are, not only by ourselves, but allowing another to witness us in our humanity, is vulnerable and incredibly brave. (Especially when we are doing so with intention and a sense of agency is felt- there is a mutual understanding of safety as well as a respect for one’s boundaries in place.)

In my relationships, both personally and professionally, I strive to see people and hold compassion for all of who they are- their light & their shadow

Pantera di la luce is an experience.

Over the course of 4 weeks, I meet with you (virtually) once a week for at least an hour.

During these meetings, I guide you through process-oriented art exercises that’re designed and intended to spur conversation as well as encourage meaningful exchange. As the weeks progress and a sense of safety and rapport is established, using the art as a visual resource, I ask gentle, non-threatening questions to learn more about you as a person- what inspires you or brings you joy, what keeps you up at night, what makes you tick, etc.

Outside of these virtual sessions, I utilize this information and my own artistry to create not only a portrait of you, but a painting of how you would like to be seen.

At the end of the 4 weeks, you walk away with not only the experience itself, but a physical portrait for you to cherish and embody.

“Khadijah, the High Priestess”, 16x20”, oil on canvas

All portraits are created using premium oil paints & are sealed with a gloss varnish to ensure the integrity of the painting, protecting it from spills, dust, or fading for years to come.

“I have never been painted before, and I didn’t know how to feel. I am also a new mom and needed a reminder of who I am. Lexi made me remember that I can inspire too and that my story matters. ”

Dalia’s Testimonial

Working with Lexi has been such a pleasant experience. Her pure energy and kind heart shines right through. She has a clam & soft aura that just makes you feel good.

I have never been painted before, and I didn’t know how to feel. I am also a new mom and needed a reminder of who I am. Lexi made me remember that I can inspire too and that my story matters. Just being a part of the process of her painting has been a beautiful experience and very empowering. I felt VERY included and seen.

I love everything about my portrait. Lexi really made me feel like a strong, Palestinian Goddess and yet so soft and feminine. And of course, it’s so beautiful to look at! There’s so much to see! Just like all women, we have so many different sides of us. I feel she captured that so well.

It’s the light, the colors, the warmth, THE [mountain] LION!… And everything I feel my soul is— the olive tree, Palestine (there, right on my face). It’s so reflective of my identity and how I view myself. It’s so much in one piece, I feel emotional and so proud just looking at her work. I cannot thank Lexi enough for this.

Art really does heal and help.

Thank you.

All my love,
